In the third year of the Kobe/Shaq/Phil era, the Lakers got their third consecutive championship. Although they eventually would reach another NBA Finals, this was the last championship of the trio.
Despite Shaq being the main weapon of the triangle offense installed by Jackson, Kobe led the team in assists and steals and averaged 25.2 points in the season, 26.6 in the playoffs and 26.7 in the Finals.
Kobe was named MVP of the 2002 All-Star Game where he got 31 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. |
