April 24. New Orleans Arena, New Orleans. Once again the Lakers couldn't handle Chris Paul who had a triple double in the Hornets victory 93-88 over the lakers.

New Orleans' point guard was fantastic, leading his team with 27 points, 15 assists and 13 rebounds while the Lakers stayed close but missed too much going .431 from the floor, .222 from behind the 3-point line. Particularly Kobe Bryant had a bad shooting night going 5-for-18 and though he was in the facilitator role and had 7 assists in the first half he also went 0-for-7 for 0 points and he even missed a technical foul.

The Hornets never trailed after halftime and led by as many as 9 points at 57-48 early in the third at the end of a 20-3 run that had started in the second quarter.

Kobe had some good minutes in the third period scoring 14 of his 17 points to help the Lakers tie it a couple of times but that was all, he missed a completely open three-pointer that would have tied the score at 83 with 2 minutes go to in the fourth, and after twisting his left ankle, kept playing and missed another 3-pointer with 4 seconds left that ended the already slim chances the Lakers still had. Of course it wasn't all his fault, Gasol had 16 points but is still far from being his old self, the man who shows up when the team needs him. Lamar Odom was a non-factor coming from the bench and missed 6 of 7 attempts.

The Quotes

Phil Jackson (LAL Coach): "He pressed the game in the second half and delivered for them"

Monty Williams (Hornets Coach): “Chris Paul, that was one of the better performances I've seen in the playoffs. A lot of guys score. He scored. He assisted. He rebounded.”

Chris Paul (Hornets): "Regardless of what happens in this series, it was good to see the city with a smile on their face. It was fun, man. I'm just so thankful to get to say this is my way of life.”
