May 8 - Dallas. The Lakers' hopes of another three-peat ended and so did Phil Jackson's illustrious career. Sadly, this game wasn't the best way for the best coach in NBA history to leave. The Lakers were humiliated by Dallas and some players (Odom and Bynum) couldn't handle it and lost their composure in a 122-86 loss that completed the 4-0 sweep. If the Lakers defensive rotation on game 3 was bad, this time it was a disaster and that combined with the Mavericks' good ball movement and the incredible night they had from behind the 3- point line made it a nightmare for Los Angeles. The Mavs started to get on fire in the second quarter when Jason Terry made 5 three-pointers to personally outscore the Lakers 20-16. Terry, who had 32 points, tied a playoff record with a total of 9 threes. As a team the Mavs also tied 3-pointers records with 11 in the first half and 20 in the game while shooting an fantastic 20-of-32, a 62.5%. Even though the game was emotionally already over by halftime with Dallas ahead 63-39, the Lakers useless attempts to do something against the rain of threes in the second half produced frustration on Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum who got themselves ejected making the situation unworthy of the Lakers rich tradition...
